PPC is Broke

PPC is broke

Online marketing is broken. The PPC (pay per click) model is ruined by bots and the greed of sites like Google, Bing and more. We bid against each other for top positions while the corporations sit back and laugh while collecting our advertising fees.

So how does this affect you, trying to sell your book? Let’s look at a good example. I start an ad campaign on Bing and set a daily limit of 5 dollars. That means, in a month I should have spent around $150 on advertising. Now depending on how competitive the market is for my book, I could spend $1.00 per click. That means, in a month, I should have 150 potential readers.

Sounds great. Surely, I should have the ability to sell 10% of those readers and possibly recoup my spend. After the month is complete, I find that Bing sent me 150 potential customers, although, my web traffic report only shows that 80 actual people came. Of the 80 users, most of them spent an average of fewer than 15 seconds on the website. Something isn’t right – 80 customers and they spent 15 seconds on my website? We want to create a new search engine that isn't full of bots and false clicks.
